Welcome to Donor Offspring Matches!
The goal of Donor Offspring Matches (DOM) is twofold.
-To create a place where people involved in the donor world can find matches with the donor or other offspring. Whether you are a donor conceived child, the parent of a donor conceived child or the donor him/herself, please provide your information when you feel comfortable.
The extent to how far the connections go is fully up to each match. While some parents may wish to only know of sibling matches, the next parent may wish for actual contact for the sibling matches. Yet another parent may wish for contact with the donor. However you use the information remains your personal choice.
-To create a place where donor offspring can truly begin to educate the rest of us involved in this donor world how it really feels. I have been inundated with emails from donor children thanking me for a place where they feel someone is hearing that they NEED this. That they NEED people to listen to them about how being a DC child feels rather than being told how they should feel.
We are reaching a point where these children are growing up rapidly. They are beginning to speak and unfortunately, what I am seeing is the children who express sadness, the children who express a loss are almost being looked down upon. I'm hearing other parents make comments such as 'They feel that way because of how they were raised' 'MY child will understand we did this because it was our only option.' 'My child does NOT have a father, they have a donor!' These exact statements are very hurtful to donor conceived children.
It is completely normal and natural for these children to have desires. It isn't a lack of parenting skill or anything negative.
We all need to take a step back, open our ears and listen and learn. These children growing up can teach us a lot... if only we allow them a forum to do so.
Growing up as a Donor Conceived child can have its challenges. In many ways similar to adopted children who long for the biological roots. It is my hope that this forum can provide some answers to children who express the need for them.
It is my hope that by the end of 2008, we will grow to be a productive group and that our numbers will be increasing daily.
This website will grow on a monthly basis as we have members enter their information. It will be a work in progress for some time. If you have suggestions, please feel free to email them to me at. Please spread the work about our new website/forum. Lets make some matches!!!
What We Offer:
On the facility search page, browse for your clinic/doctor/facility. If you want to register, please fill out the register form. We will then add your information. Please remember that matches can not be made if people don't post their info! Registering your information is free and you are not required to leave any information that you are not comfortable with. In fact, we suggest that you do not leave personal info such as last name or phone numbers.
Visit our forums to discuss things with other people in your same situation.
Do you have photos of your children you'd like to post? Visit our photo gallery! Post them either by donor # or by your name.
